Eating 12 grapes for each chime of the clock at midnight sounds exciting. Most of my new year eves are spent in the church, though!

The church is also a great place to spend your New Year's Eve, I think the most important factor here is the company we choose for the beginning of a new year. Thanks for the comment!

Love the perspective on the company we choose, Gabi. It is always a choice. Sometimes, we go against it and later complain about how it didn't go well for us.

Well, I believe we make our choices for reasons known and important to us in the given moments. So, the choices are the right ones for those moments in time. We should learn from those and choose wisely, but try not to regret.

I would love to do any of these. Portugal is first on my bucket list right now. I don't think I'll make it there by January, but I'll remember to eat 12 raisins. And maybe 12 grapes, too, since Spain is next on my list. Why not!

I agree with you! Or perhaps create your own tradition, with a similar fruit :)

Of these choices, maybe I would choose Venice. I’ve been there between Xmas and New Year’s Eve (it was very quiet and chilly and was absolutely the opposite of being there on a hot September with public transport strikes and very small children!) and I think it would be beautiful to be along one of the canals (or the Grand Canal) to celebrate. Where would YOU go? 😃

Well, I would like to see Madrid for NYE, I will do it once :) I like spending my NYE's on the Adriatic coast, on one of our Croatian islands - mostly because they are too hot during summer, so I visit them during winter if I can.

Sounds so nice!

I've never spent NYE travelling...all of these possibilities look beautiful, though!

I prefer spending the NYE on a south Adriatic island, it's nice to enjoy those islands in winter.

And the squares - in Croatia big local music stars are hired to perform on the squares, and sometimes even foreign stars, to attract tourists.

Looks exciting but I’ll probably be in bed 😉

That's a smart option 🙂
