Why a Recap Post?
Mostly because I love wrap-ups and conclusions 🤓
As an educator, I'm all about summarizing at the end of a chapter—it's just how my brain works. So, I'll be regularly putting together recaps of my posts in this publication, along with some FlashFacts (a shorter version, so check it out!) about each country. I’ll revisit those countries in future posts, but not right away.
Starting today, you can expect a country recap every other week. I believe it’s perfect if you’ve missed a few bits and pieces or just want everything neatly in one place.
My very first post on the Journey Jots publication was Discover the Ancient Mysteries of Newgrange and Knowth. I believe this was a great way to kick off the publication because my goal is to present my visits to UNESCO heritage sites, especially those that don’t often pop up in travel blogs. Visiting Newgrange had been on my bucket list for ages, and I was overwhelmed by the whole experience that I just had to write about it.
Since I recorded a voiceover for the post (located at the top of every post), I decided to also release it as a podcast for those who prefer audio formats. You can check out the voiceover here: Voiceover: Discover the Ancient Mysteries of Newgrange and Knowth (podcast).
To promote the post, I published 5 short pieces in my FlashFacts publication. If you're not subscribed yet, do it because it's free, and you'll get daily doses of general knowledge. Here are the FlashFacts I shared:
Una Watters was a fantastic Irish painter I discovered in the National Gallery of Ireland
Giant’s Causeway got its name after a conflict between 2 giants
Ireland is the only country in the world with a musical instrument as its national symbol
New Feature: Notion Travel Planners
Starting today, I’m also sharing my travel planners, beginning with this one:
6 Days of Dublin: Notion Itinerary
This itinerary focuses on exploring Dublin itself, without any day trips. I’ll be sharing several other versions as soon as they’re ready to go, and they will be available only to subscribers (free).
If you’re new to Notion, it’s probably the best tool for staying organized. The templates are fully editable, which is the best thing. This itinerary includes links and practical info, and you can adjust everything to fit your own plans. If you have any questions, I’d be more than happy to help.
And there you have it—a quick recap of my unforgettable Irish adventure!
From exploring the ancient wonders of Newgrange and Knowth to uncovering hidden gems like Una Watters’ art, every moment was a journey through time. I hope these recaps, along with my FlashFacts and Notion itineraries, inspire your own Irish getaway.
Thanks for following along!
If you want me to write about something more specific like Giant's Causeway, Cliffs of Moher, Wicklow Mountains, the Wild Atlantic Way, Dunluce Castle, Dark Hedges, Howth peninsula, Belfast or Dublin, please leave a comment.
