Croatia: Birthplace of Nikola Tesla
Meet the genius inventor who lit up the world
Born in 1856 in what is now a small Croatian village, Smiljan, Nikola Tesla is one of the greatest inventors of all time.
Tesla's innovations in electricity and magnetism, including the development of alternating current (AC), transformed the way we use energy today. Often dubbed “the man who invented the 20th century,” Tesla held over 300 patents and his work laid the foundation for modern electrical systems.
Although Tesla spent much of his career in the United States, Croatia proudly claims him as their own genius, with museums and monuments dedicated to his legacy.
